Zaragoza-based Foundation Ecology and Development ECODES invites Civil Society Organizations  working on water issues to express interest in participating in next world exhibition EXPO 2008, 14 June to 14 September 2008, Spain.

Under the theme of “Water for sustainable Development” the EXPO will host a Pavilion of Citizens’ Initiatives aiming to hihglight innovative approaches by civil society organisations to address water challenges.

EXPO 2008 has commissioned the Foundation Ecology and Development to co-ordinate the development and management of the Pavilion of Citizens’ Initiative.

For this purpose ECODES has launched this week an online consultation for NGOs and other civil society organizations, hosted at: http://www.ecodes.org/expo2008. Everyone is invited to register and flag their initial interests and ideas by 10 September 2006.

The goal is to secure the active participation of a good mix of local, national and international Civil Society Organizations, and to build an attractive, creative and moving programme for the 6 million visitors expected at EXPO 2008. Based on this initial consultation, the Steering Committee of the Pavilion of Citizens’ Initiatives will start building and proposing an all-inclusive consistent draft programme of activities, in partnership with those wishing to participate.

With its international dimension, EXPO 2008 will be a unique outreach and advocacy opportunity for Civil Society Organizations from all over the world active on water issues.
