Paris, France, 1-11 December 2015
The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) will take place in Paris from 1st to 11th December 2015 with the aim of achieving a new international climate agreement, to be enforced in all countries.
France will hence, play a leading role in bringing together the varying points of view of the international community and in facilitating consensus.
Nature Solutions Pavilion aims to highlight the importance of using nature based solutions for the mitigation of Greenhouse Gas emissions and the adaptation to the impacts of climate change. In fact, the success of the responses to this great challenge depend on the healthy state and proper functioning of all ecosystems whether terrestrial, coastal or marine.
This pavilion, coordinated by the IUCN-France Partnership which consists of the IUCN and three French Ministries (Foreign Affairs and International Development, Ecology, Sustainable Development, Energy and Overseas Territories, French Development Agency), gives a voice to key actors from France in the field of nature protection and promotes French expertise:
- ATEN
- ASTERS
- IUCN France Committee
- French GEF (FFEM)
- MedWet
- ONEMA
- French National Parcs
- French Regional Parc network
- French Wetlands Transfer Units
- Ramsar France organisation
- France Nature Reserves
- Tour du Valat
MedWet, a Regional Initiative of the Ramsar Convention, ensured the participation of key actors who work for and are committed to wetlands in the COP21 with the financial support of ONEMA (French National Agency for Water and Aquatic Environments). Wetlands will be given their right place through ten conferences, including four related specifically to Mediterranean wetlands.
These conferences are free and open to all in the Climate Generations areas which is a place for debate, knowledge, exchange and a friendly atmosphere close to the United Nations Conference Centre. The Climate Generations areas are open from 1st to 11th December, from 10:30 to 18:45 and Nature’s Solutions Pavilion is in Zone A.
