#WetlandsForHumans campaign: Revealing bonds – When nature and human well-being intertwine

For the celebration of World Wetlands Day 2024, on 2 February, MedWet introduces the #WetlandsForHumans campaign, aligning with the theme “Wetlands and Human Wellbeing.” This initiative aims to capture the diverse connections people have with wetlands, exploring the symbiotic relationship between these vital ecosystems and human well-being.

 

 

Objective:

#WetlandsForHumans invites individuals from all walks of life to express their sentiments towards wetlands through visuals and words. The campaign seeks to showcase the multifaceted importance of wetlands, emphasizing their role in fostering well-being and the unique experiences they offer.

  • General Public:

Civil society, individuals, families, and nature enthusiasts who directly engage with wetlands. Whether it’s for ​​economic or subsistence use, recreation, inspiration, or solace, the general public may hold a direct connection to these ecosystems.

  • Scientists working on wetlands:

Researchers and scientists contribute to the understanding of wetlands’ role in well-being through their scientific investigations. Their work unveils the ecological and societal benefits of these vital environments.

  • Wetland managers:

As stewards of wetlands, managers play a crucial role in maintaining the health and sustainability of these ecosystems. Their expertise and efficient management ensure that wetlands continue to provide essential services for human well-being.
