Salutations from the MedWet Coordinator

Salutations on the occasion of Yom Kipur 2014

“Every man’s enemy is under his own ribs – i.e. his own desires.” (Chovot HaLavovot)

It is my great pleasure to address this message to all Jewish communities in the Mediterranean region on the occasion of Yom Kippur.

Yom Kippur is about not saying “No, I can´t” but saying “Yes, I can”. Is a day to become a better human being, thus a day to make this important part of humanity which is the Jewish people a better part of our common and shared existence.

King David tells us: “[God] opens His hand and gives to all those who want” (Psalm 145:16). In truth, we can do whatever we want. The only condition is that we have to “want.” If we don’t want, then God cannot give.

Yom Kippur is a time to return. A time to dream again the wildest of dreams, and to plan their execution. A time to rethink and regain our refreshing hope in life.

I wish all those receiving this message that their dreams come true, and that you help others near you to also realize their dreams.

With warm regards,

Delmar Blasco
