In his first mission as MedWet Coordinator, Delmar Blasco visited the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention in Gland, Switzerland. He maintained discussions on Ramsar-MedWet cooperation and on other Ramsar  issues, such as the drafting of the new Strategic Plan and preparations for COP12 (Uruguay, 2015) with the Secretary General, Chris Briggs, and the rest of the Ramsar staff, in particular the Senior Advisors for Africa, Asia-Oceania and Europe, and the staff responsible for communications.

Blasco also used the occasion to meet officials from the MAVA Foundation to discuss the MedWet project being funded by MAVA. He also paid courtesy calls on the IUCN Director General, Julia Marton-Lefevbre, and the newly-appointed Director General of WWF International, Marco Lambertini, and held meetings with IUCN and WWF officials responsible for water and Ramsar issues.
