The Ninth Meeting of the Mediterranean Wetlands Committee (MedWet/Com9) is planned to take place on 28 October 2009, Changwon, Republic of Korea in the framework of the 10th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention (COP10).
The Mediterranean Wetlands Committee is composed of representatives of 25 Mediterranean countries, the Palestinian Authority, the European Commission, intergovernmental organisations and international conventions, non-governmental organizations and five wetland centres.
The Committee meets every one and half years to review progress in the work undertaken by MedWet and advise the Ramsar Convention on issues related to Mediterranean wetlands and the work of MedWet.
Delegates to the upcoming meeting will discuss a number of issues including the report on progress of work of the Initiative, the 25 Year Strategic Vision of MedWet, the Workplan for MedWet for the period 2009-2012, a report on financial and budgetary matters as well as the proposed project of the Observatory of Mediterranean Wetlands.
