The Ramsar site Parque Nacional de Donana, first designated in 1982, has been significantly extended by the government of Spain by the addition to the National Park (50,720 hectares) of the surrounding Natural Park, for a new area of 111,646 ha with the new name “Donana”. Spain’s 49 Wetlands of International Importance now cover 234,052 hectares
