Engineering Without Borders-Spain invite presentations for the Workshop of Research in Water and Governance to be held in Barcelona on November 16th, 2006.
The challenge of the workshop is to analyze the key elements of the governance of the water, as these elements must be inserted in the state structures of governance. It is necessary to deepen these elements with rigorousity and presenting multiple points of view. The workshop, within the framework of the Water and Governance Week, is organized by Engineering Without Borders Spain in collaboration
with the World Water Assessment Programme, Institut Internacional de la Governabilitat and the New Water Culture foundation.
Contents some Key points of the workshop:
o Conditions of governance that ensure proper decentralization.
o Creation of reliable information systems that contribute to decision making.
o The role of the technology in participation and governance.
o Mechanisms of solidarity among regions, urban – rural.
o Social participation in the water management as tool for governance.
Specific Objectives
o Identify the European investigative community that works in Water and Governance and establish a Working Group.
o Generate a space of debate among investigators and members of social movements.
o Share the current research in Water and Governance.
Participants – This seminar is intended for:
o Water and governance experts and investigators.
o Administration representatives involved in the creation and management of policies and programmes relative to water.
o Water Social Movements.
o Legal practitioners employed by NGOs involved in water policy or management projects and programmes as well as representatives of Consumers Associations.
